365 Degrees

365 Degrees seem to be really far from the original point. But if we look at the angle closely, it's just 5 degrees far from where we used to be. We go all the way round and come back to the same point. But I decide to go for five more degrees.

The Momotaro Story

This speech manuscript was written by A. Akina (me!).

Introduction: Bah bah bah bahh....

Transition: Bah bah bah....

Main story:

Once upon a time, in the deep mountains there lived a little old man and a little old woman. One day the little old woman went to the river to wash some clothes. Suddenly, she looked up from her washing, and as she did, she saw a huge peach floating down the river. The little old woman pulled the peach out of the river and took it carefully home.

She said to her husband: "Look what I have found in the river today! Shall we cut the peach and eat it?" Just as she was about to cut the peach, it suddenly split in half with a loud noise CRACK! As the peach split a baby boy sprang out. The old man and old woman were startled, but when they saw the baby boy, they were very happy, because they had no children. They named the boy 'Momotaro'.

The peach boy

Very soon Momotaro grew up to be a healthy, strong and kind boy. One day the little old man told Momotaro about some terrible monsters called 'Oni'. These monsters lived together on an island called Oni Island. The Oni scared village people and made their lives miserable. They sometimes came to the village and stole people's treasures.

Momotaro, who was very kind and also very brave, said to his parents: "I'm going to go to Oni Island to fight with the Oni and bring all the treasures back to our village." His mother was not very happy when she heard this, but she knew that Momotaro had made his mind up. So she gave him her blessing and made him some rice balls, Japanese people believed rice balls gave you more strength in fighting.

On the way to the Oni Island he found a dog and a monkey and a pheasant. He gave the rice balls to them and they said, "We will go to Oni Island with you!"

Finally Momotaro and his three companions arrived at Oni Island. They saw the Oni's beautiful palace, filled with stolen treasures and they all went quickly inside.

They came upon many Oni in the palace. Momotaro and his new friends were quick to attack. Momotaro swung his sword high and cut the Oni to pieces. The dog bit the Oni with his big fangs. They monkey scratched with his razor-sharp nails and the pheasant stabbed the Oni with his beak. They all fought bravely and tirelessly. It took them a long time, but finally they realised they had defeated all of the Oni.

Momotaro had brought all of the treasures from Oni Island back to his village. When the villagers saw this and knew that the Oni would not trouble them again they were very happy. But his parents were the happiest because they saw that Momotaro was safe. They were very proud of his great adventure. From that time they all lived happily ever after.
